The Love of God

 Psalm 145:9, 

"The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works."

Today I want to talk about God's love. What it consists of and who it is for. First, it's important to acknowledge that God is eternal and there is only ONE God. 

1 Timothy 1:17

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

John 17:3 

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Who is God? 

1 John 4:16

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

After reading the above verses we can come to some conclusions that lead us in the right direction in terms of understanding who God is. Here are some things that we can KNOW that are true, based on what the Word/Logic of God communicates (as seen in the above verses): God is eternal. The only eternal. God is Love. (If God is the ONLY eternal, and ONLY God, and God is also known as Love then it would make sense that he must be the the ONLY Love.) Hence, God is eternal love and God is THE ONLY eternal love that exists.

Who and WHAT is Love?

John 15:13

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

1 John 4:10

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Something can exist without being perceived by others. Love can exist without being experienced by another. God can exist without us knowing what and who he is. We can exist without experiencing God / Love. Thankfully, it is God's will and heart from us to know who he is. For us to know and experience the Love / the Love of God.

Ephesians 3:17-19

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

You being made in the image and likeness of God were purposed to know what and who God is. To know what Love is. Knowing God and God as love is life. God desires us to live. God is not weak in his power to raise us from death (not knowing God/love). To exist (physically in the earth) without knowing God is not eternal life. God is our salvation from death. May we see God for who he really with clarity.

Mathew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God

Acts 17: 24-28, “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out to him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.”
